Alright, so here’s the thing. You ever just read something and think, “Whoa, didn’t see that coming?” That’s where I’m at with this whole Bandai Namco and A24 gig. Like, buckle up because Elden Ring is stepping off our screens and into cinemas. Yeah, that game everyone and their dog was obsessed with in 2022. Now it’s getting a movie. Mind blown, right?
And guess who’s directing? Alex Garland. Yep, the dude who brought zombies to life in 28 Days Later and messed with our heads in Ex Machina. So, it’s like, wait, did he just stumble into this by accident, or was this always part of some wild master plan? Anyway, it’s happening. Eventually. Because, you know, movie magic isn’t like waving a wand. It takes time, and we gotta be patient, or something like that.
Funny thing is, George R.R. Martin kinda fired up this whole movie buzz ages ago, then went radio silent. Sneaky, right? So when Bandai Namco dropped the news, everyone went bananas. Like, seriously, look at Twitter.
Oh, and A24 is involved. They did Midsommar, The Lighthouse, and all those other artsy-fartsy films that you kinda love but make you go “hmm.” Fingers crossed they bring that same weird energy to Elden Ring. Could you even imagine?
Now, the brave, or perhaps crazy soul heading this is Alex Garland. Yeah, he’s been around the video game scene too. Co-wrote for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. So he’s got credentials, I guess. But I wonder if we’re gonna see any of that video game flair make it to the screen. It’s still all up in the air, just like my weekend plans. No definite answers yet about ol’ George R.R.’s involvement either. Dude’s got books to finish, after all.
So, who knows when we’ll get to actually see this thing? It could be years before they even start filming. But, hey, keep your popcorn ready because this saga just got a cinematic twist. Stay tuned… or don’t. Whatever floats your boat.
