Alright, so there’s this game, Exo-Calibre, that kinda throws you back to those old-school arcade vibes—maybe with a modern twist. It’s out there on the PlayStation 5, thanks to those folks at eastasiasoft and Vampixel. Anyway, buckle up because this is gonna be a ride.
Picture this: you’re one of three Ex-Calibre Knights. Sounds fancy, right? You’re piloting these wild exo-mech suits or whatnot, trying to save the world. Because naturally, evil AI drones have decided that it’s their time to shine. Or maybe malfunction. Who knows.
Now, there’s this whole thing about different pilots having unique shoot types and melee weapons. So, yeah, you just unleash chaos all over the place. Story mode? You’ve got more health, endless lives. Basically, it’s the cushy gig. But, there’s this Arcade Mode that’s all about limited lives, and health that’s just not enough when things get dicey. Then there’s a Boss Rush Mode. Just brutal, in case you thought bosses were too easy.
Oh, and Time Rush Mode. Seriously? It’s all about racing against the clock. I can hardly keep track of time, let alone rush through it. But hey, if that’s your thing, sure.
While you blaze through the game, you collect scraps. These aren’t just random bits like you’d find in your junk drawer. They mean upgrades—bumping up damage, beefing up health, extra lives, you name it. Comes in handy, especially if your reflexes are as great as my juggling skills (which is none).
Controls-wise, it’s pretty straightforward. Left stick or D-Pad for moving around, R2 for blasting foes, Square for melee moves. Even boosting’s a thing with L2 for some speedy evasion. Use it or crash—your call! Reflecting projectiles with melee? That’s a thing too. Reflexes not included.
Trophies, man, this game has those too. A whole list, Platinum included. And it’s a Cross-Buy deal. So that’s like getting two games for one price. Isn’t that neat? Or maybe it sounds better than it is. I ramble.
Anyway, anyway—Exo-Calibre’s doing its thing, retro meets modern on PS5 territory, with a side hustle on PS4. Priced at $6.99, it’s a two-fer kind of deal. Maybe worth a shot, or not. Your thumbs, your rules.
P.S. Got my hands on this thanks to eastasiasoft. Just saying.
