Late last year, some folks might remember, Sightful did this abrupt pivot. They were all set on launching this quirky laptop with AR glasses built right in, but—surprise, surprise—they canned the whole thing. Yeah, they decided instead to focus on some AR workspace software specially made for Windows. Enter Spacetop for Windows, and it’s meant to transform your surroundings into a private little virtual display. Handy, right? For when you’re hustling on the go.
Initially, they had some hardware thing going, Spacetop—using those nifty XREAL AR glasses. But now, they’ve got this subscription app, targeting a wider array of computers. Think Dell, HP, Lenovo, you name it.
Wasn’t so long ago they were toying with a ‘headless’ laptop—odd name, right? Anyway, it had an Android-based OS dubbed SpaceOS. But come October 2024, they axed it. Just like that. Refunded folks who’d invested in their Spacetop G1, too. That thing was gonna set people back $1,900, no small change.
Sightful said the big switcheroo was all about these neural processing units (fancy word alert). Something to do with better processing power and battery saving when AR is in play. Yeah, techy stuff like that.
Now fast-forward to now—Sightful’s rolled out this Spacetop Bundle, $899 in total. It’s got the XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (usually runs $699), along with a year’s Spacetop subscription. Nice little combo.
Oh, and on the side, they’ve got these optical lenses you can snag. Prescription ones, single-vision at $50, progressive at $150. Choices, choices.
They threw out some laptop suggestions, too. You’ve got Dell XPS Core Ultra 7 (32GB), HP Elitebook—some others. Though honestly, the list isn’t carved in stone. More gadgets with Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processors or newer are joining the party all the time.
So, their highlights? Seamless access to whichever apps keep people productive. Push, slide, rotate your workspace, all with a few keystrokes. And travel mode? You can take your workspace anywhere—plane, train, you name it. Plus, the display. Crisp as a freshly picked apple. Adjusts to lighting like magic. Works like a dream indoors or outdoors.
These glasses, only 83 grams. Super light. And oh, this massive 100” display to spread out your virtual workspace. Your neck will thank you—no more hunching and squishing into a tiny screen.
Backed by over $61M in funding—they’re doing something right. Founded in 2020 by tech veterans from places like PrimeSense and Magic Leap, their HQ is in Tel Aviv, with offices in Palo Alto, New York, and Taiwan. So there’s that. Check out more on Spacetop for Windows if you’re curious.
