Who’s out, you ask? Patrick Buckland. Yeah, the dude who pretty much birthed Stainless back in ‘94. Ben’s not a newbie, though. He’s been hanging around since 2022, climbing the ladder, directing stuff. Before that? Oh, he was scheming over at Dovetail Games for about a year. Funny how paths twist around, huh?
And Ben? He’s thrilled, like cat-with-a-whole-carton-of-cream thrilled. “Delighted and humbled,” he says, stepping into those CEO shoes. Mentored by the one and only Patrick, who’s now sort of lounging back as Executive Chairman, promising not to hover too much. But, let’s face it, he’s still got his baby monitor on Stainless.
Patrick joked he’s hitting 62 soon — claims he doesn’t look a day over 70. Good one, right? He’s stepping back, kinda, but says he has this burning, scratch-that-it’s-itching passion for making games. Still holding the reins, in a shareholder way, just not giving himself a heart attack with daily fires. I swear, the sound of tires on ice would remind you of something like Patrick’s retirement — soft but, you know, kind of screechy at points.
