Sure thing, let’s dive right in. Here we go:

So, get this — Nintendo Switch 2 is dropping on June 5, apparently. And it’s bringing along a wild mix of games to boot. We’re talking Mario Kart World and stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 that the old Switch couldn’t even think about running. Now, new consoles mean old stuff might come back in style. Like, remember how they gave The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening a makeover? Or brought back Pokémon Yellow in a new outfit? Anyway, my fingers are crossed for an out-of-the-blue revival of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Weird series, where you, a human, wake up as a Pokémon. Totally bonkers, right?
Anyway — wait, where was I? Oh yeah, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. It’s kind of like Spike Chunsoft’s Mystery Dungeon series. You’re in these random dungeons, battling Pokémon in a style that’ll remind you of the mainline games. But there’s more — little missions like dropping off items or getting Pokémon out of jams. Sometimes, you’d even run into Legendaries like Rayquaza. Adds a bit of character depth, you know?
Backtracking a bit, the first Mystery Dungeon games — Red and Blue Rescue Teams — popped up nearly two decades ago. Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS era. Pretty wild shift from the typical “Gotta catch ’em all!” gig. No Pokéballs here, folks. Instead, a fun little personality quiz decides which Pokémon you become. Honestly, it screams early 2000s personality quiz vibes. Like something you’d find on your DeviantArt back in the day.
They had a good run on DS and 3DS until about 2015. Then bam, the original games got a fancy new coat of paint in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX for the Switch in 2020. Same gameplay, same quiz, but this time you could pick your Pokémon buddy if the quiz didn’t nail it for you. Oh, and the art? A nice painterly touch, like someone’s brush went wild.
Now, Rescue Team DX — kind of a mixed bag when it came out, but over a million copies sold pretty quickly. Still, Nintendo kinda does its own thing, you know? Like, it’s bringing Kirby Air Ride back after 22 years. Unbelievable! I mean, who asked for that? But hey, whatever floats their boat.
Since that last Mystery Dungeon entry, the Pokémon world’s been busy. Three new generations of games, plus the fresh Legends series. So many new Pokémon — wouldn’t it be a trip to play as Fuecoco, the little clueless apple-looking dude, or Grookey with his drumming antics? But knowing Nintendo, the Mystery Dungeon gang might stay on ice, or who knows? Maybe an announcement’s hiding around the corner at July’s Pokémon Presents. I’m all in for some surprise action!
