So, I was poking around online, you know how it is, looking for games, and, suddenly, bam, there’s like this avalanche of platformers. It’s crazy. How do these developers even think they’re gonna stand out? Like, what makes a game the next big thing like Shovel Knight or Celeste or whatever? Guess it’s all about that unique twist. That’s what hit me about Love Eternal at PAX East 2025. Oh, and guess what? I was kinda mesmerized. Why? No idea. Just stuck with me.
So, Love Eternal, what’s the deal? It’s a sibling thing — literally. Two siblings poured their hearts into this one. The wildfires in Los Angeles? Somehow that’s part of it. The story? It gives off serious Perfect Blue vibes. If you haven’t seen that anime, you’re missing out. It’s intense, just like this game’s story.
You dive in as Maya. Picture this: family chitchat in their suburbia nest, a phone rings, and bam, Maya answers. Comes back, and where did everybody go? Seriously, it’s like they poofed away, and outside? It’s like stepping into a dusty history book torn to shreds. Crazy, disorienting — is that a word? Whatever, it fits.
Now get this — Maya, our brave soul, soon figures out she can flip gravity. Ceiling walking? Check! But there’s a snag. No mid-air circus tricks unless she lands first. Of course, she stumbles on these red stones in the sky that let her flip again before touching down. Fiendish puzzles, right? And yeah, it gets tricky, like dodgeball with spikes. You’ll find save spots everywhere to keep the rage quits at bay. Indie vibes for sure, Celeste and VVVVVV fans, take note.
The vibe from this game screams — use your brain, dodge the traps, survive the plot twist. “A castle built of bitter memories” and “a suburban kid yanked from home by a lonely god”? Expect to be mind-blown and, yep, a bit scarred. Brace yourself for a whirlwind four-hour ride when it drops this year on every platform you can think of. Xbox, Switch, PlayStation, the whole lot. Ready?
