Okay, so EA just threw down a pretty flashy presentation of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer. You know, it was all about sticking to what makes Battlefield… well, Battlefield, but with a twist for the new-gen crowd. Classic, right?
Now, they chatted on and on about maps and modes, but left out this one thing I really thought we’d see more of. Some folks might even say it was the main thing. But hey, they didn’t skip it entirely—just barely brushed over it. It’s that rumored battle royale mode. Yeah, the one Ripple Effect, the brains behind Battlefield Portal, has been cooking up.
Caught a glimpse of it in a quick trailer at the end there. Content creators were getting ready to go wild on their live streams. The sneak peek showed folks sprinting away from, well, something fiery off-screen. Could be a dragon for all I know—but nah, pretty sure it was just a big ol’ wall of fire. Vehicles zooming around, usual chaos.
Didn’t outright call it battle royale, though. And—get this—they didn’t settle on calling it Firestorm either. But hey, with flames closing in, it’s kind of a no-brainer that it’s some revamped version of Battlefield 5’s Firestorm. Name’s a bit on the nose, isn’t it?
Would be hilarious if they keep the Firestorm tag ‘cause, you know, there’s already an Operation Firestorm map in the game, and that might just boggle a few minds. Confusing? Absolutely.
Didn’t catch when the mode’s dropping with the rest of Battlefield 6 on October 10, though. But Battlefield Labs peeps will get to test it out soon, they say. Whether they stick to “Firestorm” or not, it’s a safe bet it’s gonna be free-to-play. EA seems dead set on raking in 100 million players or something wild like that. Gotta love corporate goals, huh?
