Sure, here it is:

So, get this — Ayaneo just announced its new handheld gaming PC, the Ayaneo Next 2, and it’s got a dedicated GPU inside. Yeah, really. I guess they’re packing in AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU with a Radeon 8060S GPU, which apparently has 40 CUs. To be honest, I have no idea what “CUs” stand for, but it sounds impressive, right?
This thing is one of the first handhelds to offer such crazy performance. There’s also the GPD Win 5 with the same chip. They decided to save some juice with an external battery. Smart move? Maybe. But Ayaneo went ambitious with a built-in “high-capacity” battery. More on that later, I guess.
Saw some images on their Discord. Eight pics or so? Not like they’re winning an award for that, but you get a feel for the gadget. They even showed the PCB inside with all its fancy dual-fan cooling and 12-phase power. Sounds like wizardry to me. And in the middle of all that tech, they just slotted the Ryzen wonder chip and its memory modules. All neat and tidy like.
Now, their design is a bit Deck-ish, you know, Steam Deck-alike? Joysticks here, touchpads there, trying to up the game from the old model. “Exclusive large-screen experience,” they say. Feels kinda high-brow for a handheld, but alright, can’t fault ambition. Oh, and they’re boasting better battery life and thermals. Who isn’t these days?
Battery life on this power muncher will be an adventure. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395, or Strix Halo if you like cool names, is a beast, with 16 CPU cores and 64MB of L3 cache. Configurable TDP from 45 to 120W — whatever that means for a handheld wobbling around 55W. And the GPU? 8060S with 40 CUs at 2,900 MHz based on RDNA 3.5, rumored to be on par with mobile RTX 4060 or 4070. I mean, sure, why not?
Apparently, packing this APU into a handheld wasn’t the plan — unlike AMD’s Z1 and Z2 series. But Ayaneo, you gotta hand it to them, they squeezed it in there. It’s been delayed before over design challenges. What’s a handheld without a little drama, right? Battery life should be… hmm, guess we’ll see when it finally ships.
Anyway, guess Ayaneo fans and curious techies will be watching. Will it redefine handheld gaming? Maybe. Or maybe it’ll just be another cool gadget to show off. Time will tell!
And that’s the latest scoop from my end. Catch ya later!
