I stumbled upon this new studio, Day Off Interactive. You heard of it? Yeah, me neither, until now. Apparently, some folks who used to be with big names like Colossal Order and Square Enix — you know, makers of Cities: Skylines and all those buzzy titles — decided to go do their own thing. Karoliina Korppoo, apparently a big deal at those places, teamed up with Des Gayle, who’s been around the block with Unity and whatnot. He’s like the head honcho of production there. I always wonder, does that mean lots of meetings or just a fancy title? Who knows.
Oh, and there’s more to the team, some technical whiz named Colman Humphrey, then there’s Jayne Robinson who’s got her marketing gloves on, studio director Ethan Grant, and minutes deputy or something — Karl Rabbitt. Six main peeps in total. The gang’s based in Ireland, but they’re kinda like scattered puzzle pieces around the globe. Fourteen of them in all. Why do I remember this? Maybe it was how they said it, felt like counting beans or something.
Anyway, their vibe is all about innovating through simulation — which I guess means doing cool stuff differently — and being all sustainable and “let’s build a community” about it. They penned this down somewhere. It’s supposed to feel like a hug, I think. They’re all-in on remote work too. Makes sense with a name like Day Off, right? They even embraced the whole four-day work week, which frankly sounds tempting. I mean, who doesn’t love long weekends? Probably why the name stuck with me.
