Hey, so here’s something I stumbled upon that’s kinda wild: Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is back after, like, 20 years! Seriously, who saw that coming? First hit the scene in 2002, right? As a follow-up to Onimusha: Warlords. Expands on that whole Sengoku-era vibe, but this time we’re following Jubei Yagyu, this samurai with a serious grudge.
Anyway, so here’s the setup: Ten years after the Warlords game, Nobunaga Oda — yes, the demon guy — is all powerful again. Wants to take over Japan, starting with, guess what, Yagyu Village. Jubei finds his home, uh, decimated? Yeah, bad scene. So, he’s off to serve some justice. Meets up with four folks that can tag along. You know the drill: give them gifts, make them like you, find new story endings. It’s got layers.
Oh! Here’s the thing, gifts come from all over. Shops, other pals, or just lying around, waiting for someone to trip over them. Choose wisely, though. Everyone’s got favorite stuff. Get it right and, who knows, maybe they’ll even fight alongside you as playable characters. Sounds cool, right?
Okay, talked to some Capcom folks. Wanted their top gift reactions. Keep an eye out, basically.
So, Ekei Ankokuji? This priest dude who’s more into money and partying than anything spiritual. Surprise, surprise! Give him a huqin or a fan, and he’s suddenly ready to dance. Didn’t expect that.
Now, Magoichi Saiga — gun squad leader, brainy, loves books. Give him a book and he’s like, “Cool, but where’s the rest?” Wants the full library before he’s impressed. Fair enough, I guess?
Then there’s young Kotaro Fuma. Tried handing him a Tengu mask — big mistake. Said it was for old folks. Awkward, right? Jubei’s left holding the unwanted gift.
Moving on, Oyu. Mysterious, armored-up lady. Suspicious of your presents, especially when it’s The Art of War. Who knew?
And listen, apparently if you give Magoichi fish and wasabi in the right order, something amusing happens. Producer’s top pick. Go figure.
Last one for you: Director’s favorite? Ekei and anything hair-related. The guy flips out if you give him a comb. Sensitive subject or something.
Alright, let’s just say there’s a heap of stuff to collect and see in Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. Time to mess around with gifts, mix it up, and basically just go nuts in this remastered blast from the past. Out now on Xbox stuff, by the way.
And… I went on too long. Anyway, check it out if you’re into that sort of thing.
