Oh man, so there’s this car. It’s like this mythical beast, the ‘05 NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune. Only 19 ever existed. Just 19! Imagine being one of those lucky folks. Heck, feels like, I dunno, winning a bizarre lottery or something. For the normies like us, we get to live out our fantasies with some video game magic thanks to Gran Turismo’s Update 1.61. Yeah, yeah, it’s not exactly the same, but a guy can dream, right?
So this update — it doesn’t just stop at the Z-tune. Nah, they’re throwing in the 2022 Honda N-ONE RS and the ‘22 Nissan Qashqai Tekna 190 2WD e-Power too. A bit of variety for our virtual garages. Not bad!
There’s this video somewhere, probably showing off all this stuff, but who’s got time for that? Did I mention new events? Seriously, you get all these sprints and a shiny new Lone Pine backdrop in Scapes. Are they spoiling us? Maybe. Kind of makes you think, doesn’t it?
Anyway, bam! The update hit on Wednesday—maybe it was July 23rd around 10 pm PT if my brain isn’t deceiving me. Time zones can be a mess. Whatever, we adapt.
So then the cars. Let’s talk cars. That Honda N-ONE RS? Yeah, it’s there. A hot little number if you want to grab it from Brand Central or, like, scrounge for a used one. The thing’s been around since 2012, and for a kei car, that’s saying something. It’s all retro-laced with vibes from the old N360. Some fans just couldn’t let go of that first-gen look, so the designers kept the charm going. Evolution’s there, of course, but subtle. Tight little package.
And the ‘05 NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune—ugh, where do I start? A wildcard like no other. Nismo’s parade float in their 20-year bash. They had to scrounge around for 20 used rides and breathed some new life into them. It’s nuts. If I’m not wrong, Nismo even took inspiration from their GT500 racers. Basically, they stripped down to the essentials and built this powerhouse, adding a little of that invincible GT500 spirit.
Lastly, cruising on to the ‘22 Nissan Qashqai Tekna 190. It’s another piece in Nissan’s ever-expanding showcase. Compact, sassy, and flaunting that e-Power swag. They’ve overhauled a lot, certainly not the old SUV days. Smooth lines, LED all around perhaps — who keeps track? Some hybrid enchantment under the hood provides that boost without the guilt trip of high emissions. Weirdly compelling if you ask me.
Oh, and before I sign off: there are a bunch of fresh circuits. Take a spin at Nürburgring or maybe zip through the Fuji Speedway. And Sophy’s in there too—some AI racer that probably wipes the floor with mere mortals like us.
P. S. Just a tip: need the game and some decent credits to snag these rides. So there’s that.
