Alright, so Firaxis Games is rolling out this killer update for Civilization 7 and it’s got everyone buzzing. Like, seriously. I stumbled upon this blog post that spills all the beans, and let me just say, it’s like they packed everything in there but the kitchen sink. Or maybe they did? Who knows, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all.
First off, Civilization 7 hit the scene back in February 2025. Nine years after the last one, can you believe it? And get this, the game’s split into these epic ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern. You’re basically this big-shot leader trying to build a world empire by constructing cities, making all sorts of crazy tech discoveries, and, well, either buddying up with other nations or just, you know, conquering them. Because why not, right?
Anyway, back to the update. So, they’ve got this version 1.2.2 coming out on June 17, and it’s got loads of new stuff like massive maps—big enough for 10 civilizations if you’re in single-player mode. Multiplayer’s got room for eight, which is neat, if you wanna battle it out with your pals. They’ve added these advanced options too, so you can basically customize everything down to which crises pop up. Make the AI tough or easy—it’s your call. I mean, personally, I’d go easy, but don’t tell anyone.
Now hold on—this is where things get really juicy. They’re bringing Steam Workshop into the fold. So, if you’re one of those modding geniuses, you can go nuts and share your creations. Plus, new ways to play with towns, like this Resort Town thing that sounds like a vacation but probably involves economics or something. Oh, and they’re reworking the Urban Center, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though.
Let me just mention—they’ve added a handful of cool bonuses, city-state perks, and religious beliefs (I think there are 14 new ones?). Oh, and you can pet the Scout Dog! Somebody heard our prayers.
Thinking about the future, they’ve got this Auto-Explore feature lined up for July. And not to forget, they’re working on Hotseat Multiplayer. No date yet, but it’s in the works.
So yeah, lots happening in the world of Civilization 7. But that’s all I’ve got for now. I should probably go touch grass or something after all this gaming talk.
