Oh man, so Nintendo’s at it again. This new Switch 2 thing? It’s flying off the shelves like, I dunno, hotcakes or whatever. They’ve sold 3.5 million in just four days since June 5th. That’s a whole lotta gaming happening worldwide. Can you even imagine? Apparently, that’s 760,000 more than the OG Switch when it debuted back in 2017. Wild, right?
Yeah, the big wigs at Nintendo are probably popping champagne right now. They’ve got this lofty goal of selling 15 million by the end of March 2026. Feels like they’re well on their way, doesn’t it?
Funny bit though, the launch wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns. Over in New York, some poor souls found their screens damaged. Get this—staples from the receipts went through the screens! Like, really?! Anyway, the store made good with replacements. So, I guess it all worked out… kinda?
On the other side of the pond, some Brits got their units unsealed. Tape issues, apparently. Sort of a bummer, right? But hey, it is what it is. Maybe it’s a packaging mystery? Or just shoddy tape. Who knows.
So, here’s the scoop on the Switch 2’s upgrades. Bigger screen, 1080p, 120Hz – the works. Just gotta give up some battery life for that. Oh, and the Joy-Con 2 controllers now work like a mouse. Seriously nifty.
Inside, they’ve packed it with super-fast techy stuff—eight ARM cores, a cool Nvidia GPU, and a ton of memory. Oh, almost forgot! There’s this hack with the microSD slot. You can upgrade with M2 NVMe SSDs? At least, that’s the word on the street.
In case you’re itching to buy one, some places like GameStop and Best Buy still have stock. But who knows for how long? Oh, and don’t forget to catch up on the latest from Tom’s Hardware. They’ve got the deets, always.
