Man, where to start with this Samsung stuff? So, next month they’re doing their big Unpacked thing again. You know, where they reveal all the shiny new gadgets we didn’t know we needed. The usual suspects are in line, like the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and the Galaxy Watch 8. But here’s the kicker—rumor has it, they’re also going to show off this XR headset, Project Moohan. Sounds fancy, right?
Apparently, Project Moohan popped onto the scene with Android XR back in December 2024. No idea why I remember that. Anyway, it’s supposed to be the first gadget to run on Google’s new XR OS. Samsung was like, “Hey, this is dropping sometime this year,” but, uh, no date yet. Classic Samsung move.
Oh, and get this, some dude named Panda Flash—what a name—leaked that this mixed reality headset might finally get a launch date soon. I mean, we thought we’d hear something about it at Google I/O, but nope, nada. Samsung’s playing this one close to the chest.
Seeing Project Moohan in a pic makes it kind of real, doesn’t it? It looks…well, like something you’d put on your head. Panda Flash—again, seriously, that name—also spilled that it’s gonna hit South Korea first. Then it’ll do a world tour, kind of like when Apple dropped the Vision Pro in the US first. Makes sense, I guess.
Samsung’s been teasing this Vision Pro wannabe a lot. We even got to mess around with it last December, but they’re keeping mum about the XR headset’s full specs. Come on, Samsung, give us something.
What do we know, though? It’s got a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, some fancy Sony micro-OLED displays (resolution’s still up in the air), pancake lenses, automatic IPD adjustment—whatever that means—plus eye and hand-tracking. Oh, and it has this magnetic light shield thing. Sounds like a sci-fi movie prop.
Samsung might also drop some smart glasses? Competing with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses or something. Anyway—no, wait—what was I saying? Oh yeah, we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for those official dates for Samsung Unpacked, which is supposed to hit early next month in New York. Should be a show.
