Sure thing!

So, uh, it’s been like six-ish years since this dude Alex Massé — maybe you’ve heard, the guy behind PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator — went all in on this indie game, Paralives. Yeah, six full trips around the sun. And last night, bam, during the PC Gaming Show at Summer Game Fest, he drops the bomb: early access is a go on December 8. Circle it on your kitchen calendar if you still use one of those.
Started as a one-man gig, Paralives kinda exploded into a team effort. They’re around a dozen peeps now, funded by this Patreon pulling in a whopping $30K monthly. Yep, wild. Fans are throwing cash, hoping for a legit indie rival to The Sims.
Oh, and fun fact, somewhere in the article there was this bit about enabling cookies… or was it about eating cookies? Honestly lost me there. Anyway…
So, Paralives has this kind of I-know-I’ve-seen-this vibe, maybe ‘cause it’s inspired by The Sims. But hey, it’s doing its own funky dance. Think cute, cozy art vibes; nothing too broad, just detailed love for the little things. Makes you go, “Wow, somebody really doted on this pixel decor.”
The trailer, dude, like screams at me. Paralives feels like that throwback version of The Sims from way back when. You know, daily life antics in this picture-perfect town where those IKEA-like dream homes steal the show. But it’s chill, none of that mystical junk from The Sims, even though I kinda love that stuff — oh well, no one’s perfect.
Picture this: grabbing an overpriced latte with buddies, downward dogging at yoga, tossing a ball with your 2.5 kiddos (still boggles my mind, that .5), then having a good ol’ cry-fest in the bathroom after bedtime. Reminds me of, I dunno, some adulthood fantasy we scooped up in the early 2000s.
Massé and Co. swear up and down that add-ons for Paralives? Free. Yeah, unlike EA’s beloved DLC moneysuck. They’re keeping it all in one place, but how? Stay tuned, I guess. Patrons might snag early dibs – just a hunch.
Meanwhile, in life-sim-land news, inZOI finally pokes its head out, announcing its update with same-gender romance. Talk about perfect timing for Pride Month! Plus, mods are coming too, my fellow Sim-lovers. But wait, The Sims 4 ain’t sitting quiet either. They tease us with fairies in their upcoming Enchanted By Nature pack. I mean, who doesn’t dig fairies, right?
Anyway, it’s all pretty exciting stuff. Or maybe I just need a new hobby.
