Sony has just laid out the holiday lineup of complimentary PlayStation Plus games available in December 2024. Subscribers eagerly anticipate the start of each month to discover which new titles they’ll have the chance to add to their digital collections. Thanks to the Essential tier of the service, every PlayStation Plus subscriber can enjoy these offerings.
A big perk of the free games from PlayStation Plus is that they remain yours for as long as you maintain your subscription. This is different from the Extra and Premium tiers, where games are periodically swapped out. So, as the year wraps up, PlayStation Plus users have three exciting games to look forward to in December 2024.
This December, starting on Tuesday the 3rd, subscribers can grab It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem. While It Takes Two and Aliens: Dark Descent will be available on both PS4 and PS5, Temtem is exclusive to PS5. If you haven’t tried these games yet, It Takes Two is an award-winning co-op platformer that was crowned Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2021. Unlike most games, It Takes Two is designed for two players but offers a Friends Pass, letting a buddy join in even if they don’t own the game. On the other hand, Aliens: Dark Descent brings strategy fans an adventure set in the Aliens universe, while Temtem offers a Pokémon-inspired MMO experience. You’ll have until January 6 to claim all three.
Now, let’s hone in on December’s lineup. Out of the trio, It Takes Two is the standout title. Garnering Game of the Year honors in 2021, it’s celebrated as a standout co-op experience, taking Hazelight Studios into the spotlight and sparking anticipation for their next project. However, its cooperative nature might not appeal to those who prefer going solo.
In the meantime, while waiting for December’s new selections, PlayStation Plus subscribers can still enjoy November’s free offerings. Don’t forget to download Death Note Killer Within, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, and Ghostwire: Tokyo before they make way for the new batch.
