Man, so picture this: you wrap up your day, thinking all’s quiet in the Elden Ring Nightreign universe, and boom! Surprise! FromSoftware drops stealth updates on us without even a heads-up. I mean, who does that? It’s like they want us to always be on our toes—or maybe they just enjoy messing with our schedules. Anyway, somewhere in that chaotic web of updates, they teased this duo mode and something about souped-up boss fights, which are apparently called “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords.” Yeah, I know, it sounds intense already.
So, fast forward to now, and those Duo Expeditions are still in the wind. But guess what did land? The first of these so-called “enhanced” Nightlord fights just slipped into the game like an uninvited guest. Out of nowhere. No big announcement fanfare, just players noticing, “Hey, wait a sec, this boss seems off-the-charts hard!” FromSoft later spills in a blog—yeah, like after we all noticed—that they’re called Everdark Sovereigns. Gotta love that ominous name, right?
And get this: these Everdark Sovereigns switch up weekly, only those who’ve taken down the original Nightlord version can face one. Currently, we’re dealing with the Sovereign of Gaping Jaws (a.k.a. Adel). It’s around until June 25, so buckle up. After that, it’s Sentient Pest, followed by Darkdrift Knight. Seriously, could these names be any more cryptic?
Oh, and there’s a new NPC in town doing swaps for Sovereign Sigils you earn after taking down these beefed-up bosses. You trade ‘em for Relics and other goodies. First time you thrash each boss, there’s a bonus. Like a “Well done, you survived” kind of perk.
This NPC also lets you mess with Nightreign’s Shifting Earth / Map Events whenever you fancy—no longer need to trudge through three Nightlords to stir the pot. Just need some Sigils, and voilà, you get to play god a bit.
But let’s be real, knowing FromSoft, there’s probably more than meets the eye with these ultra-challenging versions. If you’re still hunting those Nightlords, check out the weaknesses guide someone kindly whipped up. Trust me, walking in blind isn’t an option unless you fancy the gaming version of a faceplant.
And hey, if things get wild, swing by that Elden Ring Nightreign guide. It’s a lifesaver—or at least a stress reducer. Who knew game life could be this hectic?
